Montgomery Project
Moments in Montgomery
During Spring of 2021 in Civic Engagement and Research Methods, My project was to redesign Montgomery with a more pedestrian focused streetscape and intertwining green-spaces into the downtown area.

Mission
Looking at the current state of downtown Montgomery, I located the current greenspaces and significant areas in the area. The greenspace had their 5min and 10min walking circles shown to help signify the distance that the average person would walk to reach a destination. This helped show the areas in Mongomery that could benefit from having an added green-space.

Vision
Looking at two sites that could benefit from improvement were Dexter Ave. and 263 Commerce Street. Dexter Ave. was a good opportunity to have a street that was more of a pedestrian style focus along with the bike lane focus. The 263 Commerce street lot was a good opportunity to help decrease the walking circles between two existing green spaces.

Art
The historic aspect that comes along with the city of Montgomery was also a focus. I looked into memorialize these moments by having sculptures or murals helping to signify the significant moments that has happened throughout Montgomery's history.
